Consultations
Stakeholder consultation on a proposal for GAET to join with DAT has now closed.

The GAET board thanks all stakeholders for their submissions to the consultation. All questions which have been submitted will be responded to either individually or as part of FAQ. You are thanked for your patience whilst we undertake the responses to all consultation submissions. We will update you further in due course.

Interview Process

The initial stage of selection is reviewing your application.

We ensure your qualifications meet our entry requirements and your personal statement indicates you have a passion for education and your specialised subject/phase.

If you are successful, you will be invited to an online interview. The interview day is usually within 1 week of receiving your application.

The interview process will include the following:

  • opportunity to ask questions/obtain further information
  • a formal panel interview
  • preparation of a subject and phase-specific lesson prior to the interview, with Q&A during the interview (a reading focus for primary)

Successful candidates, on acceptance of their offer, are invited to a face to face induction day at a partner school in Greater Manchester. During the day, you will complete a literacy assessment and meet a group of our students for a panel interview. An online numeracy assessment is also arranged on this day, which is completed before enrollment. These activities help the SCITT to personalise the programme for candidates prior to the beginning of the training year.
